L'Oréal Kid's, a leading brand in children's hair care, is widely recognized as the driving force behind the significant growth and innovation within the category. Seeking to capitalize on their success, L'Oréal formulated a strategy to expand the franchise through product diversification. With the development of L'Oréal Kid's Body Shampoos they embarked on their long term objective to establish themselves in the children's bath and skin care markets. The marketing communications challenge was to maintain the visual equity of the existing L'Oréal Kid's product line while clearly differentiating the body shampoo as a separate product, with a distinct purpose and end benefits.
Confident that the visual synergy of the body shampoo and hair care packaging will help to establish a cohesive L'Oréal Kid's brand identity, the new product development team implemented their strategy to distinguish L'Oréal Kid's Body Shampoos by building awareness and understanding of the product line with the consumer. Johnson Communications designed merchandising displays for the L'Oréal Kid's Body Shampoos new product launch in support of the clients visual branding objectives. The final display designs readily communicated the body shampoos end use to the consumer with a light hearted illustration of the L'Oréal Kid's Body Shampoo's shark character enjoying a bubble bath.
